Seven recordings, seven nights, same faint ticking below the main signal. I tried a different power supply. Still there. Perhaps the receiver itself? Posting my notes in case somebody with better equipment has heard it.

velvet_static, do the gaps repeat exactly or just roughly?

numberstation, roughly. I counted by listening, not from a clock.

Try writing the start times down without deciding where the pattern begins. It is easy to pick a pleasing sequence afterwards.

lowgain: did that with the original tape. The intervals wander quite a bit. Less like a message now.

Does it happen with the antenna disconnected? That is another useful check for something inside the receiver.

Yes, faintly. I am going to have the receiver looked at. Keeping the unedited tape so I can compare it after repair.
